Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
As a coastal city, fishing has provided sustenance for centuries in Adelaide for the aboriginal people. Settlers began recreational fishing here in the nineteenth century. With many nearby reefs and shipwrecks in the Gulf of St Vincent there is a long history of great fishing in Adelaide.
In addition to beautiful beaches, Adelaide has rivers and lakes where you can go fishing. Species you could catch while fishing at the beach include Bream, Mulloway, Tommy Ruff and Trout. Some of the popular jetties are Glenelg, Brighton and Henley Beach. The last quarter of the Glenelg jetty features a broken bottom of rock, weed and sand. Garfish, Mullets, Snook and Tommies like hanging around the broken bottom. Brighton Jetty has good fishing throughout the year with common catches including Garfish, Snook, Tommies and Yellowfin Whiting. In the winter, you have a chance of catching King George Whiting at the Brighton Jetty. If you want to target Salmon while Adelaide fishing, you may want to head to the Port Noarlunga Jetty, Port River or West Lakes. Dusky Flathead are also a popular target while fishing Adelaide.
Nearshore and offshore fishing Adelaide on the many natural and artificial reefs, as well as shipwrecks can produce lots of excellent catches of snapper much of the year. The Australasian Snapper, or more commonly called Pinkies are plentiful and put up a good fight. There are also many mackerel and tuna that are commonly caught.
A record 59.5-pound Mulloway was caught at Adelaide. Other sizable Mulloway fish were caught here at 58.6 pounds, 54.4 pounds and 49.8 pounds. Large Mulloway are commonly caught at Port River and Port Adelaide. Port Adelaide fishing offers so many opportunities any time of the year.
