Destin is known as The World's Luckiest Fishing Village. Located on the Emerald Coast, with beautiful white beaches and emerald colored water, Destin is one of the top fishing destinations in the US. From the fruitful waters of the Choctawhatchee Bay, thosands of reefs and shipwrecks off the coast, and excellent offshore fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, Destin offers anglers many different styles of fishing.
Fishing the inshore waters around Destin allows anglers to catch many different species of fish, including Black Drum, Bluefish, Flounder, Pompano, Redfish, Sheepshead, and Whiting. Tarpon and Bonefish are frequent targets of many fishermen. On some of the reefs in the bay, there is also good snapper fishing.
On the many reefs and shipwrecks around Destin, there is good snapper and grouper fishing. Amberjack and Baracuda lurk in the same areas. There is also excellent King Mackerel fishing much of the year.
Fishing offshore of Destin provides anglers with lots of Mahi-mahi and Wahoo. There is also good billfishing with Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish, and White Marlin to be caught.
