Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Gloucester has a long history of fishing. A group of Englishmen established a settlement in Gloucester in 1623, finding it a good place for fishing. Gloucester was also the first fishing port in the US. By the late 1800s, the coastal city was one of the top ports for fisheries. It traded with several countries, including China, India, Surinam and countries in Europe. With many nearshore and offshore fishing opportunities, Gloucester fishing has been a top location for fishing for centuries.
Gloucester fishing can deliver a wide variety of fish, including Atlantic Mackerel, Bluefish, Flounder, Spanish Mackerel, Spiny Dogfish and Striped Bass from inshore and nearshore locations. There is also good Blackfish (Tautog), Black Sea Bass, Cod, and Haddock fishing on the bottom. Nearshore and Offshore there are several types of tuna, including Bluefin and Little Tunny. While the warmer months are generally more productive, fishing in Gloucester can be good all year round.
