Tampa Fishing

Tampa Fishing

Tampa is known as a Cigar City, and if smoking a stogie and catching fish is your thing, then you need to try fishing Tampa, Florida. From the excellent inshore fishing in Tampa Bay, plentiful nearshore reefs and shipwrecks, to the offshore waters in the Gulf of Mexico, Tampa offers many different types of fishing to anglers.

Inshore fishing around the Tampa Bay can produce Redfish, Sea Trout, Bluefish, Black Drum, and Ladyfish most of the year. During the late spring and summer, Permit, Snook, and Tarpon can be found in the shallow waters.

Fishing nearshore Tampa provides excellent Amberjack, Barracuda, Cobia, Kingfish, and Spanish Mackerel fishing. Around the many reefs and wrecks, good grouper and snapper fishing is popular with bottom fishermen. There is also good Shark fishing during the summer months.

Fishing the deeper offshore waters out of Tampa gives anglers the opportunity to catch many different species of tuna, and occasionaly a Sailfish or Marlin. There is also good Wahoo fishing when the waters are cooler.
