Toledo Bend Reservoir is the largest man-made lake in the South with a surface area of 185,000 acres. Constructed in 1969 on the Louisiana and Texas border, it has an average depth of 24 feet, and the maximum depth reaches 110 feet. When the reservoir filled, it submerged many bridges and old buildings. These flooded areas of structure continue to produce great fishing.
Toledo Bend fishing is well known for an abundance of various Bass species, including Hybrid, Largemouth, Striped and White. Spotted Bass also call the reservoir home, but they are a less common catch. Largemouth Bass here can reach double digits in weight in a few years. Some of the record catches include a 15.32-pound Largemouth Bass, 15.81-pound Palmetto Bass and a 33.2-pound Striped Bass. Others species of fish you can catch from Toledo Bend fishing include Bream, Catfish and Crappie.
