E.B. Allen

 | By Seamus on 4/22/2015 10:08:12 PM | Views (10)
On November 18, 1871 the Schooner E.B. Allen, downbound from Chicago, loaded with grain for Buffalo. As she passed Thunder Bay Island in a heavy fog the bark NEWSBOY came in on her from the port side fatally ramming her. The entire crew of the ALLEN made it to the safety of the NEWSBOY before their ship sunk.

When the ALLEN was orginally discovered in the early 70's she was identified as the CORSICAN which had been loaded with coal not grain. An error corrected latter by Dr. Charles E. Feltner.
