Summer is in full swing with a variety of hatches occurring throughout the Gallatin River and tributaries. We're fishing with lots of caddis patterns both nymphs and dries. Here's a few....
Dries:
Size 12-16 Elk hairs and X-caddis both tan and olive...
Size 8-12 Grey Drakes
Size 14-18 Yellow and Royal Stimis
Try Rogue Goldens in the afternoon's with long droppers(2.5 ft on 4x) in more broken riffle water away from the banks in the bigger runs..
Attractor patterns like golden and tan chubbys are a good bet too....size 10-12
Size 14-18 Grey and Rusty Klinkhammers and Parachute Adams
Nymphs
Size 12-16 Bead Head Nymphs
Prince/Trout crack/Soft hackle lightning bugs/Orvis lightning bugs/Unwired Amber/ Olive Le Bug/Soft Hackle Pheasant Tails/Ted's diving Caddis/Cream Serendipitys/ Yellow Sallies/AKA Prince
Warm and dry condition's have also produced some early terrestrials like size 14-16 black ants and 14-16 Yellow and Tan Hoppers.
