This is my first fishing report since last September. I have often stated I am not a promoter. I do not want to tell people how good the fishing is, and be partially responsible for them getting the virus. It now looks like we are over the hump, and things are improving. Keep in mind, there are still an average of 3 or 4 new cases a day being reported here at the General Hospital. If you do come down here to fish, with you having your shots, and the population here now getting shots for 30 to 40 year age group, the risk is lessening. Water Temperature – About 85° offshore and 80° inshore. The unusual high offshore temperature is one of the reasons the sailfish fishing is good right now. Moreover, 80° inshore temps mean one important thing – Roosters. Blue Water – The blue water seems to be following the 100 fathom line, and out about 10 miles off the beach. Offshore - Richard Gill of Texas fly-fished one day with Cheva and his son Alejandro, on the panga Dos Hermanos II. They fished from 8 to 10 miles out. He had a great day on the water and emailed me this: Great day is an understatement. Fantastic day! Raised four sails and landed three. Came darn close to getting the 4th. All thanks to Cheva and his son, my sliver of the job is the easy part. They have excellent instincts and shorthand anticipation of each other. Fresh teasers constantly rigged and replaced - always cheerful. Can’t thank y’all enough. Eagerly anticipating November! Inshore – Talking to Adolfo, the panga Dos Hermanos, he told me he has not had any clients, but the inshore fishing is excellent. He has been going out a couple of times a week, catching several of the small dorado that are abundant from the lighthouse to Barra Potosi. He sells enough to pay for his gas, and then gives the rest to his family and extended family. The dorado are not big, but go to ten pounds. Excellent eating and a great fly rod opportunity.
