PIC # 1: Four salmon one Trout
PIC # 2: Those are some nice Salmon.
TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD:Action has been decent shallow or deep. Pinks and greens seem to be the productive colors. Bait is also effective in shallow water. Spawn sacks or night crawler do the trick. The bite has been sporadic through out the day. Lots of stockers in shallow we don’t see them in the deep. Fish in the deep are close to the ice. Dead stick effective.
KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR to good: A limit is what salmon fishermen shoot for. But if you can catch a few of the size we have been seeing than that’s a good day. There are lots of fish showing up but they are very hard to entice. The four fish in the pic were all caught on a different offering. One pink Paddle bug, wonder bread DR Kastmaster, Pearl 1/4 oz Krocodile and a DT pink slim Kastermaster. Krystal Lazers in pink and white and whit have been a good dead stick bait. Other lures got hits but for as many fish as we have seen it can be frustrating. It’s better to see lots of fish then none and it’s way better to catch 4 than none. You always have chances for Trout while you are at it. We hope we have another couple weeks because if you are a Kokanee angler you know they can just turn on and seeing your electronics light up is a rush. A few slots left for guided salmon trips book now.
NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO POOR: Same report. Action is still not where we would like but that’s what catching is all about. Its hard to tell if moving is worth it when you see the tip up flag spring up after a long wait sitting there with no action for hours. Hopefully as we move into late season action will pickup. There have been a fair number of smaller fish caught. The dog is still doing the deed.
