CURRENT CONDITIONS: Spring is trying to sprung. Lake is about 30% ice covered mostly on the East end. Plenty of shoreline opportunities. No opening day for boating set as of yet. All ice needs to be gone and they have to set all their safety buoys. Wind has not been as bad as it was but April is notoriously anything goes territory. No word given to us about Spinney opening yet but it should be soon. No boating accept for hand carry for sure
WATER FLOW: 62.2 CFS IN 64.4 CFS OUT 96.2 into Spinney. That’s encouraging but pretty insignificant at this point.

PIC # 1: Lots of beautiful Cuttbows like this 17 to 21 inches being landed. This one caught on 1/4oz Black Marabou jig, one of our favorites.
PIC # 2: This one caught on J9 black/silver Rapala in about 12 inches of water just a few steps off shore.
PIC # 3: The fish from above pic high tailing out after release
TROUT: GOOD TO VERY GOOD: The next couple of weeks should see great opportunities for big fish all around the lake. Since the big Cuttbows and Rainbows are in spawn mode they are in very close to shore. Look to sandy and rocky bottoms. You can observe spawn holes in the sand from fish activity. They move in and out as the day progresses. Clearly early morning and late afternoon seem to be the best. Many baits work but selectively in that you need to change up from time to time. If you are fishing bait you’re sitting in wait. If you are working lures, jigs and flies we like the move around method. Try a spot try another after a bit if no fish move in. Take ten cast then ten paces. Lots of fish moving the shoreline at North Shore Marina areas. But you will find the same activity all around the lake if the bottom conditions are sandy or rocky. Successful baits include tube jigs, jointed Rapala, Kastmasters, Fly and bubble or fly rod. San Juan worms, Woolly Buggers and scuds. A good time of year to practice catch and release as most are in spawn mode. Browns and Cutthroats spawn in the Fall but they do come in to eat the eggs.
KOKANEE SALMON: NO REPORT
NORTHERN PIKE: NO REPORT: Early ice off is usually a little slow but we have seem surprise fish caught by bait folks angling for Trout.
