The Eagle was lost on the 28th of July 1866 in North Head, Sydney Harbour; during a trip from Sydney to Wollongong its anchors dragged. At the time it was owned by Mr Francis Cook. A wooden brigantine, the Eagle was 25.5 metres long and weighed 125 tons. The vessel was built in 1848 in Maine, Bath, United States and registered in Sydney.
