Clark's Hill is still in the grip of winter. The current lake level is 326.35 and steady. (3.65 ft low).

The surface temperatures are between 52-54 degrees in the am to 56-58 in the evenings. For Striped Bass and Hybrids, the hot bite remains deeper than usual and down rod fishing with blue back herring remains the ticket for great catches. We are still locating most of the fish on the steep dropping side of points in the 35 to 45 ft range. You do not need to mark many fish, as many of them are hugging the bottom. The hybrids are more aggressive and will begin to gather and feed in numbers if you put the correct presentation on their plate. You can expect a multitude of species to cooperate. We have caught 6lb Largemouth bass, 2lb spotted bass, Channel catfish, white perch, Slab Hybrid Stripers and good striped bass all on the same point, near the bottom in 40 ft of water.

The Good News! Spring temperatures are just around the corner. A few warm nights and sunny highs in the 70s will fast forward the annual spawning rituals of all species. 58-60 degrees in the early am will usher in some of the most exciting action of the entire year and it all will be happening in the shallows. All fish species will be focused on the Blue back herring spawn.

The Clark's Hill Crappie have paused the run up to spawning activities and moved back to the creek channel edges. These pre-spawn fish are a mixture of heavy females and smaller males that were working in the shallows just a few weeks ago. Anglers can anticipate a rapid change as soon as a 3 day warming trend arrives. As for now, look near the mouth of creeks and large coves in 20-25 ft of water.

Get outdoors and enjoy. Check out our current catches on our Facebook page
