Type : B class steamship
Built : 1919
Hull material : steel

Size : 5030 tonnes
Length : 100 m

Sunk : February 1945
Cause : torpedoed by UB-1017

Depth
Shallowest Deepest
Top : 0 m 0 m
Deck : 21 m 0 m
Bed : 31 m 0 m

Condition : Some breakup
Seabed Type : Sand

Small Boat Launching : Fort Bovisand
Notes :
Originally named the War Buffalo. Everyone of the 65 people managed to get off the boat when she was hit but for some reason the engines restarted and the turning propellors smashed some of the lifeboats to pieces. The torpedo strike took place off the Edystone but due to the engines restarting she actually sank in Bigbury Bay. My dives on the Persier have been very enjoyable and in addition to the wreck itself there is usually a good quantity of marine life. It is (was?) possible to swim along companion ways etc.
