I know i’m not the only one who has noticed a change in seasons. Cooler days and shorter nights are upon us and right on cue lowcountry fish are moving into their fall pattern. From Folly Beach to Isle of Palms thousands of mullet can be seen along grass edges, creeks and flats. Shrimp are gathering at creek mouths and deep holes and the game fish are staying close to the food source to take advantage of the situation. Redfish are occupying the flats in greater numbers the last few weeks and yesterday I fished a school over 200 strong. The fish were taking soft plastic shrimp and swimming lures made by Z-Man, Live Target and DOA. We also caught them on mud minnows and cut mullet. Trout were caught in 5 to 12 feet of water on soft plastic swim baits as well as live finger mullet, shrimp and mud minnows. Deeper waters are holding big Bull Reds and sharks. Live crabs and mullet seem to be the best producing baits as of late. Get off the couch and get on the boat as we have some great fishing ahead of us. Hope to see you out there!
