Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Hey Fishermen,
Well with all my post Catch & Relerase sturgeon derby work done it is time to get back to fishing. I just finished 2 trips and the fishing is good. The day before yesterday we landed 6 sturgeon. One was close, one was a solid 45 inch keeper and the rest were shakers. Yesterday we continued to have great action. We landed 8 sturgeon and a 34 inch Spinney dogfish. We landed 6 shaker sturgeon with 2 very close to the mark. Floyd battled a sturgeon for 22 minutes and when it gave up and was ready to land I decided to measure it in the water. And yes it was too big to land. The fish went 72 inches. Floyd has not hooked a sturgeon since he was 12 years old. Needless to say he was very happy. A little while later Gerry hooks into a good fish and after the battle he lands a beautiful sturgeon that went 54 inches and weighed between 60 and 65 lbs. Our best action was near the Benicia bridge and about a mile above the Mothball Fleet. We used eel and eel/grass shrimp combos. The amount of fish I have been metering is way above average. Some of the best concentrations of fish I have seen in a long while. Enjoy the photos.
