October Louisiana Fly Fishing Charters

 | By Seamus on 11/9/2015 4:41:12 AM | Views (291) The October Spawning Schools where in full force this fall when the weather was cooperative.  On the calm day’s these mature Bull Redfish were perfectly relaxed and seen fining the surface in large groups.  This behavior is allot of fun to witness and sight fish to.  On the other hand the weather has been a bit off this fall so far.  Lot’s of easterly high MPH winds that drive water into the marsh.  With the extra water depth in the fishery the Redfish can be harder to see as they have more area to hide themselves.  Shorelines you would expect to see fish pushing water on had 2 extra feet of water over them so the Redfish were to low to make a push or show fins above the surface.  October is historically an awesome month to be hear for Fly Fishing, but this season has proved to be quite tough.  It has been unseasonably warm as well which does not allow the waters of the marsh to cool resulting in clear water.  We do have a week long cold front starting in 2 day’s.  Our first significant cold front of the season so that will really help with the water clarity.  With all the points against us we still managed to have some great days here this October and boated some truly big Redfish on most day’s.  This fishery truly provides great Fly Fishing for Bull Redfish.  Looking forward to this upcoming cold front and the rest of the season!
