September is nearly behind us, and we have had a great month of fishing here on Galveston Bay. Despite the high tides that are typical for this time of year - we have had a great month of redfish catches. Depending on which areas we fish, we have caught all different sizes of redfish. Well over 220 redfish have hit the deck this month!
Our Galveston Jetty and Beachfront fishing charters have seen tremendous numbers of Giant Bull Red action along with a tarpon or two being caught as well. These Bull Redfish are making their annual run thru the passes, and make for great fishing action. We have caught bull reds up to 50 inches on live piggy perch and fresh shad. We are catching most of our fish in the 25 to 34 foot depth along the bottom. At times, the action is so steady that customers ask us to not put out as many rods.... Their arms need a break!
As well as our Galveston Jetty Trips, the Galveston Bay and Marsh has been on fire also. Calmer, waters make way for beautiful boat rides along the back waters and bayous of Galveston Bay where alligators can be seen often as well as many species of migratory birds making their way south for the winter.
We have had some very productive trips this month where redfish has been on the top of the list for numbers. The high tides have a tremendousl amount of bait pushed up in the marshes, and these redfish are feeding well. Once we have a good north wind push the water out of the marshes and bait into the bay - we will see some good bird action which is a sure sign of speckled trout filling their bellies. Before long the flounder will be showing up more and I expect a great fall for some very big Galveston flounder.
October and November are great months for some back bay and bayou Galveston Fall Fishing.
