Pickerel and Bass are Hitting Shiners

Freshwater Fishing in RI and Southeastern Mass turned on yesterday. I had reports from 10 mile River in Pawtucket, Johnston Memorial Park in Johnston and Turner Reservoir in Seekonk Mass. Bass and pickerel were taking medium shiners at all three locations. Earlier this week reports of crappie and white perch fishing were coming in from Scott's Pond and Barney's Pond in Lincoln RI and from Turner Reservoir.

 

I own Ocean State Tackle in Providence this is the first year that we have even been open in March. This seasons warmer weather has made freshwater fish much more active than normal.

 

Winter over stripers at the Charlestown Breachway have been hitting bucktails on the outgoing tide.
