Fishing Report for Tues Sept 13th & Early Wed Sept 14th

 | By Seamus on 9/19/2016 4:51:25 PM | Views (634)
WE ARE STILL OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY!
We had a great run of Spot yesterday! They ran almost from 1am to 3pm and then slowed down some when the wind went SE. They are still biting some, but mostly off the very end.

We also had some more Puppy Drum (Red Drum) today. Only 2 "keepers" that I heard of, but many were only slightly under size, so give them a week or two and we should have some nice ones.

The wind will be SW by early morning. This SHOULD mean that fish will bite slightly better on the outgoing tide, and they SHOULD bite pretty good between 3am and 9am. It's supposed to go NE again sometime Thursday morning.

PLEASE CALL 757-481-7071 OVERNIGHT AND TOMORROW MORNING FOR AN UPDATED REPORT.

Be careful... We have seen some under-sized Red Drum and under-sized Speckled Trout recently. Red Drum must be a Min 18 IN. to a Max 26 IN.; you can keep 3. Specks must be bigger than 14 IN. (only 1 may be bigger than 24 IN.); you can keep 5. VMRC Regs are here:

Crabs really aren't biting at the moment and Crabbing is not recommended at this time due to the waves and wind. They dig in and tend not to bite when the water is rough. We won't know whether or not they will keep biting this season until after things calm down.

Please follow some common "Fishermans' Etiquette" while you are out there:
•DO NOT BE A JERK
•BE COURTEOUS
•NO LOUD CURSING •ONLY 2 PIECES OF EQUIPMENT per person is to be used at one time - NO EXCEPTIONS!
•FOLLOW ALL VMRC FISHING REGULATIONS
•DO NOT BULLY others out of their spot
•DO NOT CLAIM-JUMP someone else's spot if they leave temporarily
•DO NOT SPREAD OUT further than necessary
•DO NOT TOUCH other people's things
•STAY WITH YOUR GEAR - Do not set up in one spot and then sit in another
•CAST ONLY IN FRONT OF YOU
•PLEASE give fishermen enough room to cast
•DO NOT CUT someone else's line without asking
VIOLATION OF THESE RULES CAN RESULT IN DISMISSAL
FROM THE PIER WITHOUT A REFUND.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR COOPERATION.
