Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
There has always been something majestic during the Fall on the Texas Gulf Coast, and Galveston Texas has everything you could hope for. Rather you are hunting dove on the prairie, gigging flounder on the Bay Flats, catching bull reds at the passes or chasing shallow water redfish in the back lakes - October is a special time of year to be an outdoorsman on the Texas Coast.
Fishing in Galveston is incredible right now. Water temperatures have began to fall, and this puts many things in motion for successful fishing and flounder gigging. I have seen the water temps at mid 70s early in the morning, but will rise throughout the day. This triggers redfish and flounder to begin doing what they do this time of year - spawn. Throughout the next couple of months these two species will provide some action packed Galveston Fishing Charters.
Bull Reds and Slot Reds are thick right now along the jetties and passes, and our Galveston Fishing Guides have put smiles on many faces with Giant Bull Reds and some great tasting Slot Red Fish. We are targeting these fish a couple of different ways. We are fishing live shrimp, croaker and mullet tight along the jetty rocks, and also fishing the deeper channel with fresh shad on bottom. We have had days of over 40 red fish hitting the deck.
The Bays and Marshes of Galveston are full of red fish, speckled trout and flounder right now. Many of the fish are just under the legal size, but do provide some action packed days of fishing in some calm back lakes and bayous. Some nice slot redfish, keeper specks and flounder are also being caught as well. We are targeting the fish with live shrimp under a popping cork in these areas. Fishing over oyster reefs and drains in the bayous and back lakes are the keys to success.
The most popular Galveston Fishing Charter during the month of October is our Flounder Gigging Trips. The conditions are beginning to shape up, and flounder are already on the move. When conditions are right, we are sticking some very nice size flounder. We will begin seeing bigger and bigger flounder throughout the month of October. Texas Parks and Wildlife shut down flounder gigging during the month of November, but open back up December 1. This is a magical time to gig a Texas Trophy Flounder! If you would like to fish for redfish and specks before the sun goes down - check out our Galveston Fish-Gig Combo for an amazing tour and time of Galveston Bay.
October and November are excellent months to get out on Galveston Bay and catch some trophy size fish. Mild temperatures, hungry fish, and great fishing guides will make your Galveston Fall Fishing Experience one that you will never forget! Give us a call and get out on the water with us! 409-739-8526
