Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Vark Markarian and Greg Demetrakas from Rhode Island chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL.  Temperature was in the mid 70’s with winds blowing 10 mph out of the east.  After having a few conversations with Vark, his main objective on this fishing charter in Fort Lauderdale was to catch Sailfish.

We stopped and picked up a dozen live Goggle Eyes from T&T Bait to be used later when flying the kite.  Fifteen minutes later we were fishing in Fort Lauderdale at the sea buoy in 120 ft. of water, 1.8 miles from shore.  We started off trolling with one #8 plainer down with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon.  For surface baits with went with four Ballyhoos and one Bonito strip with a daisy chain teaser.

As we were headed towards one of our 34 artificial wrecks in Fort Lauderdale, FL, the two anglers, Vark and Greg, took turns bringing in their catches – a total of five Kingfish.

It was now time to do some kite fishing with live bait for Sailfish, hoping to fulfill Vark’s request.  We put two extra light kites out with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite.  Shortly afterwards the winds died out, so now we turned to live baiting from the outriggers.  We had some Bullets in the well and added that to the fishing pattern.  Right rigger!!!  Sailfish!!!  Vark’s enthusiasm increased as he hopped into the fighting chair to do battle with the Sailfish.  After twenty-five minutes, the Sailfish was brought to the side of the boat, and Dave, our mate, grabbed a hold of the bill for picture taking.  From there we reset again and then shortly after another Sailfish appeared on the left short behind our teaser.  Hooked up!!!!  The Sailfish exited the water putting on an acrobatic show.  Greg was our angler this time and enjoyed the tug of war with his first Sailfish.  Thereafter, Dave grabbed a hold of the bill and pictures were taken.

It was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.   The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock.   Congratulations Vark and Greg for each bringing in their Sailfish.
