Z Fish Report (11/10/16)

Kieth Paul sent me this photo, based on his fishing trip being saved a couple
of weeks ago by having live bait on the boat. Live bait is cheap insurance.
The main story this week was a non-seasonal rain of about 6 inches over three days, with about 3 inches on the first day (Monday afternoon  and evening). Monday’s lightning and thunder show was spectacular. The rains were mostly in the late afternoon and the boats had already returned for the day. But, it did affect the live bait availability and the commercial night fishermen.
Offshore (average) surface water temperature - Includes from the 5-6 mile mark at the 100 fathom line, on out to about 50 miles with the 1,000 fathom line being at 32 miles: 85°
Adolfo is still producing for his French clients
Inshore (average) surface temperature. From the beach to about 5 miles: 84°
Blue water: Heavy cloud cover did not allow a satellite photo this week. Reports are still saying decent blue water at 13 miles.  (Chlorophyll amounts and surface temps from Terrafin SST)
Offshore- Very slow fishing offshore for all species. With the full moon on Monday (the 14th), I do not expect the sailfish action to pick up. Hopefully the tuna will come back in close. But, you may want to consider the barracuda action at night. With the full moon, and warm water, it may be excellent.
Adolfo about to tail a rooster. Note the blue and white Ranger.
Inshore: The roosterfish and jack crevalle are still providing the best action. It is not great action, but steady. And, you have to work for it. The rains have muddied up the beaches near the river outlets, and finding clean water is the key.

week while fishing with Adolfo.
This morning I was on the dirt road along Playa Blanca (by the airport), and on down to near Barra Potosi. The water was off-colored and green, but not murky. Then I went down to La Barrita to visit with Mark Denison at his fishing lodge. The water was about the same. Mark told me the water was stained and ugly yesterday (Wednesday), but is clearing up quickly.
