Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Fishing out here on the peninsular has been fantastic this week with plenty of reports of good fish both from inshore & offshore alike. Warmer currents are slowly making their way down the east coast with some good fish in tow.
The local reefs are holding kingfish to over a metre taking baits and lures while Sydney Harbour is alive with schooling salmon, tailor, kings and a few other odd species. I hit the kayak during the week out of Manly and the place was firing. Salmon & tailor were clearly visible chasing small baitfish on the surface while down deep the sounder was telling me that these schools of fish were just the beginning.
Poppers, plastic vibes & blades accounted for 8 flathead, 6 tailor 3 salmon and strangely enough 2 hairtail. Not generally a species caught in the harbour, or during the day, or on lures. Hardly a cast went by without something hooking up and this weekend’s conditions look even better.
The beaches are well on the up with whiting & bream feeding on beachworms & salmon taking metal lures in the surf. Manly & Dee Why have both been successful venues so dust off the gear & head out for a session, the mornings are generally best at this time of year as the afternoons can often be windy.
