Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
The hottest night ever recorded went through Sydney this week, and it was sure worth heading to the water for a fish. Plenty of anglers have reported some solid captures this week with offshore fishing being the standout application.
The warm East Australian current heading south down our coastline is bringing both mahi & marlin closer to shore. Emerson Spina trolled small skirted lures around the 70 fathom mark & hooked a nice striped marlin off Sydney Heads. Spina mentioned there was good readings of bait on the sounder & plenty of bird activity in the air. Along with the billfish, small mahi were also landed in the 23 degree water.
The harbour has been a little tough this week & until the barometric pressure stabilises a little it will be a bit hit & miss but always worth wading the flats chasing whiting & flathead before the sun gets too high.
Clontarf, Balmoral & Quarantine Bay have all had decent reports from land & boat based anglers this week. Bream & flathead have been taking pilchard fillets from Sth Curly beach while Dee Why has been a good choice for spinning the suds with metal slugs on the lookout for pelagics like salmon & tailor.
