Weekly Fishing Report 2nd February

What’s better than a day out fishing with you family and friends? Peter Binks with his three son’s, Jett, Bowie and Roscoe and their friend Luciano Franco fished Palm Beach with great results using live squid and yakas.

10 yr old Luciano scored a whopping 111cm Jew fish while 6 yr old Roscoe scored a 80cm one also – kids hooked for life!

Sydney harbour has been fishing very well with a mixed bag available. King fish, salmon, tailor and large schools of bonito are also rampaging around chasing schools of small bait.

Fish Outta Water staff member Ben, fished earlier this week with some great results using small halco slices and trolling youzuri divers in and around the washes with bonito being the main catch and lots of rat kings found around the structures. Keep an eye out for birds working the water on the bait schools and approach slowly without breaking up the schools; this should result in some hook ups.

Pittwater is building up with baitfish and pelagics resulting with catches of some nice kingfish. Fish the boat marines and marker buoys for best results.

Offshore fishing has increased dramatically with large schools of baitfish being schooled up by dolphins and predators. Some fishos having there sounders blocked out with the amount of these baitfish.

Trolling small to medium sized skirted lures at 6 to 8 knots around these schools seem to be the best way to pick up some of predators that are taking advantage of the dolphins hard work. Small black Marlin have moved in in numbers with increasing reports of hook-ups and drop offs. Holding on to these amazing fish will be a very rewarding catch for any fisho. They seem to hit the lures once before backing off.

Out wide in the deeper water with temps of 23 degrees the mahi are still on the chew around the fads and any other structure or floating debris taking live slimy mackeral and skirted lures and maybe the chance of picking up a striped marlin.

Narrabeen has been fishing very well with some nice size whiting and some solid flathead caught on a range of baits and lures. King worms and small vibes seem to be working very well fished on light spinning gear at the back of the lake.
