Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Weekly Fishing Report 10th March
Some pretty big seas have hit the peninsular this week stirring up all manner of feed for many a species. Offshore fishing has been a fairly hard task due to the big seas & high winds with many a boating angler choosing the estuary option & coming up with some decent results.
Shane Matthews fished Roseville in his kayak working 5 inch soft plastics around Echo Point and soon found himself hooked up to a Samson fish in some pretty rainy decisions, after a quick couple of pics the fish was released & with the water being quite muddy up there this fish is an unusual catch. Another unusual catch for the Roseville are was a juvenile long nose trevally these fish are generally distributed between Far North Queensland & Japan, this fish was caught on a vibe soft plastic and also off a kayak in the dirty water.
Live bait has been harder to catch this week than usual but for those prepared to run a berley trail some schools of scad can be caught around the marinas in Middle Harbour. Squid can be caught at The Spit using a paternoster rig in the deeper water while kingfish are still being caught in the harbour, locations to try are the boat moorings at Clifton Gardens, Balmoral & Northbridge. This weekend is shaping up nicely weather wise.
