Weekly Fishing Report April 21 2017

The fishing has been terrific over the past week & this weekend looks even better with the wind & seas staying down, plenty of good fish are being caught and these conditions are expected to be with us right through the Anzac Day break so don’t worry about mowing the lawn or cleaning the shed…..it’s time to go fishing. The calm seas currently upon us are allowing many a boat angler to head out to the local reefs and catch a feed. Inshore reef fishing has been alive with snapper & kingfish reports with both baits & lures being successful at most close in reefs.

Sydney Harbour has schools of bonito, salmon & tailor feeding on shoals of smaller baitfish & the action has been pretty wild for those working the outer edges of these mad surface eruptions. Live baits of squid & yellowtail have worked well on kingfish & big flathead around Seaforth & The Spit, these two locations have been successful venues over the past week with some decent captures taking place.

Pittwater has been improving since the recent rains but is still a bit hit & miss, one angler that didn’t miss was Zoe Williamson when she landed a ripper 80cm mulloway on a pilchard during a lunchtime session. The beaches are settling now after the recent heavy rains, whiting & trevally are roaming the suds with king beach worms being a favourite bait. Casting metal lures beyond the breakers will put you in the zone for tailor & salmon or maybe even one of the visiting tuna species roaming the wash.

We will be closed on Tuesday for the Anzac Day public holiday & we will resume trading on Wed at 9am.

Good luck & I hope you all have a fishy Anzac break.
