Mutton snappers are a huge hit on our reef fishing charters here at Dream Catcher Charters April 25th 2017 – The winds of the spring are starting to subside and Grouper season opens in just a few days here in the Atlantic waters off of Key West. Its time to start thinking about the reef. Not only for the grouper but for all of it. There will be SOOO much going on in May, June and July it will be truly ridiculous. Like I said May 1 is opening day of Grouper season. Check your regs to see what you are allowed to keep and kill by looking at The Florida Saltwater Fishing Regulations. The predominant species of grouper that we get here on the reefs out of Key West are; Black grouper, red grouper, gag grouper and scamp. Thats without going into the deep water grouper complex (See: Deep dropping).
