Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Some terrific reports of good fish have been coming in all week & this looks set to continue throughout the weekend & into next week as conditions allow many an angler to hit their favourite spots, the wind & seas look great and plenty of fish are on the chew from the upper reaches to the local inshore reefs. Reports of solid kingfish & good size snapper are coming from offshore with big soft plastic lures & fresh squid being popular choices of baits to entice these fish. Schools of salmon, bonito & tailor are still working the harbour surface chasing small baitfish & casting metal lures into these packs is proving successful. Bouncing the harbour floor with rubber vibes is one of the latest crazes hitting our industry & this type of active fishing is generating some terrific results, Rob Haslam landed a nice soapy mulloway using this technique from his kayak around Seaforth recently. The drop off at Clontarf has been great for this style of fishing and is a great location for the land based family fishermen. Some good squid are moving in to the harbour now and this species will get bigger as Winter approaches. Collaroy, Dee Why & Manly beaches are holding whiting in the surf during the day with some solid bream roaming the wash at night. Whaler sharks are also on the prowl after dark so be prepared to battle these guys as well. Good luck & safe fishing.
