Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Plenty of tuna are being reported from southern NSW at the moment but the colder water that is bringing them is struggling against the warmer currents as the two temperature breaks clash, over the coming weeks this water should arrive off Sydney and we will hopefully be right in the thick of it.
Until then the kingfish & snapper bite will continue with some solid captures coming from our local inshore reefs. Yet again the Oceanhunter Sportsfishing outfit have been landing some solid fish of both species with operator/owner Vic Levett landing a decent snapper during the week, baits of squid & yakkas are doing the damage on luring these fish as are bigger soft plastics worked near the ocean floor.
The harbour has turned a little quiet during the week as is expected when the water temps drop but one species that has arrived en masse is the silver trevally, these guys are making their way into many a berley trail and seem to be feeding on just about all baits being presented to them. Middle Harbour has been prolific with captures throughout the week of this species, lightly weighted baits of king beach worms through to soft plastic vibes have accounted for some good no’s of this hard fighting white fleshed fish.
Our run of winter whiting is continuing on the beaches with beach worms being the preferred bait for targeting these fish in the shallow breakers, some good tailor & salmon are roaming out beyond the breakers, metal lures cast out over the back are working a treat for hooking these hard fighting fish.
