Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Weekly Fishing Report
Some great fishing conditions have greeted offshore anglers this week and the results are showing in the amounts of reports I have received and the size of the fish being caught. We are still waiting for our tuna run to start up here but the colder currents are taking a while to make their way up the coast, whilst we wait the kingfish & snapper are seriously on the chew with some outstanding fish being caught. Joe Emmerton & Craig Butcher are two anglers who have been getting amongst the reds this week with some solid captures taking place. Shane Carroll headed out to Texas Reef chasing the kingfish and landed a hoodlum winter king of 12.5kgs on a live yellowtail scad bait, although fish no’s often thin out during the colder season bigger sized fish are always recorded & it’s always worth that extra effort to land a beauty.
Sydney Harbour has the trevally on the bite all the way through Middle Harbour, these fish can be attracted by a berley trail and aren’t too fussy on the baits or lures on offer, soft plastic & vibe lures as well as prawns & squid have been popular with anglers targeting these fish.
Some decent winter tailor are being caught on the beaches at Dee Why, Curl Curl & Freshwater at night with some fish being up around the 60cm mark, the old faithful pilchard on a ganged hook has been working well on this hard fighting surf fish. Whiting are taking beachworms on most beaches but be sure to stay mobile as these fish will often move with the tides, good luck & good fishing.
