Sneakyfisho Weekly Fishing Report 22/09/2017

Zane Levett with a nice Albacore.

Tuna at the moment are still showing up out wide but further south of browns mountain .

While this has been the longest time for the tuna to hold off Sydney in a few years no one knows how long it will last.

For those that have been lucky enough to find a school of fish the reports are that they will take anything on offer at the back of the boat from pilchards to poppers and stick baits cast into the school.

With the currents changing daily from hot to cold there have been a few albacore and even the odd mahi mahi fish captured and while they are available it is still worth heading out wide and trolling a few skirts or lures around.

Inside the harbour the schools of salmon seem to have gone quiet but actually they are still very active. They have travelled further into the system, and are reported to be near and past the Harbour Bridge chasing bait fish while the barracouta are still dominant, hitting anything that is trolled behind the boat.

On our rock ledges the fishing is slowly picking up with some numbers of rat kings on patrol and taking the offer of a live yellowtail or a fresh squid presented to them.

Narrabeen Lake is still improving as we move into the warmer weather and the fish have started to be a bit more active and on the prowl for a feed with whiting taking fresh and or frozen worms and flathead chasing soft plastics and small hard bodied lures.

Fishing on our beaches at times can be a little bit frustrating at times with fish travelling up and down, but armed with some light tackle as the tide is rising or on the turn of the tide a nice feed of whiting bream or flathead are still a possibility if you put the effort in and search along the beaches for a good deep gutter .

In the evening onhigh tide just before dark seems to be the most productive time to try for some of our bigger fish like salmon ,dusky whalers and some tailor although not great for the table a lot of fun an excitement can be had.

As always stay safe and enjoy your fishing.
