Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Fishing report 13/10/2017
Some excellent snapper being taken on our inshore reefs at the moment and with warringah anglers up and coming red October competition should be a good one for all those that have entered.
While fishing baits for snapper is always a good method, do not forget that fishing a variety of soft plastics can be a very good way to hook up a few fish when they are not taking bait.
There have been some good reports of Kingfish in large numbers chasing baitfish on the surface around long reef giving our anglers the opportunity to throw some surface stick baits and poppers into the schools.
While fish are feeding on the surface a range of methods can be used from plastics to saltwater flies all with good results but when the fish are not showing it is always good idea to spend a bit of time catching some live bait before the trip out.
Offshore there has been some reports of marlin being tagged and schools of striped tuna are feeding on the abundance of baitfish that have gathered out and around the shelf.
With the hot current pushing hard down from the north and the water temperature rising a day out trolling around the shelf could see some excellent results and maybe even an early mahi- mahi chasing the schools of baitfish.
Our beaches are still giving some anglers a feed of whiting and bream with the pick of them being Manly and Palm beach.
While there have been reports of mulloway being taken on some beaches by anglers the numbers at the moment are small but there is always a chance to pick up one of these elusive fish if you have a bait in the water in the evening on a rising tide.
Sydney harbour is in full swing with massive schools of salmon chasing small and large baitfish taking a variety of metals and soft bodied lures and for those anglers down rigging with fresh caught squid or yellowtail there has been some good sized kingfish on offer.
Narrabeen lakes are getting better week by week with the fish becoming a lot more active as the water temperature picks up.
Gone fishing day is being hosted at Avalon beach RSL this Sunday giving kids the opportunity to learn how to fish with lots of free advice and prizes on offer so why not join the event and make it a family day out.
As always stay safe and enjoy the fishing.
