ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA

*The Report is providing information about what is happening here. We are not encouraging or advising you to leave your home during “Shelter in place” order. Outdoor activities should be done in accordance with state of Colorado Health Department guidelines and Governor’s Executive orders. Parks currently remain open for a reason. Be safe.

CONDITIONS UPDATE 04.14.20 The lake is about 40% ice covered with windy conditions making short order of things. Cold snap sure to slow the melt depending on the wind.

SPINNEY MOUNTAIN STATE PARK: Information received from Park official on Saturday says plans are still being made to open. Ice coverage as of Friday was at least 85%. Best guess puts opening late in the month. Weather, staff and any public health directives could impact date.

CPW, the Marina and Covid-19: The Visitor Center and all campgrounds/playgrounds are closed in all Colorado State Parks until further notice. The Trails, shoreline areas , boat ramps and marina’s remain open. Go to CPW website for latest details. According to the Governors “Stay at Home” order “you should stay at home as much as possible except for critical activities including participating in outdoor activities at a legally mandated distance of six feet or more from other parties. We are a licensed Colorado Retail Food Establishment observing all best practices as required by CO Department of Health mandates. No more than 10 people in the store at one time including staff. Regular sanitizing of common areas.

RESERVATIONS BEING ACCEPTED: We are taking reservations for boating and guided trips this Summer. 100% money back guarantee on deposit with no cancellation fee if related to Covid-19 restrictions. We better have a 4th of July!

UPDATES: To be published as needed check back every so often.

CURRENT CONDITIONS: The lake is 80% ice covered with many shoreline areas open with varying degrees of open water from the North Shore Marina to all points West. Ice moves around based on wind. Spring time in the Rockies conditions rule. Be prepared. With campground areas closed some fishing areas require a hike or bike to access. Suckers Cove, Cross Creek, Stoll Mountain and North Shore all have parking and access. This is Trophy Season. Ice is still accessible at Coyote Ridge and Witchers Cove but not for us. Unstable conditions make ice fishing extremely hazardous this stage of the game and it’s easier to score big from shore.

PARK COUNTY FIRE BAN IN EFFECT

HOURS: OPEN SATURDAY - SUNDAY 8:00AM to 4:00PM MONDAY - FRIDAY DEPENDS ON THE WEATHER

WE HAVE THE BAITS: We love ice fishing. We primarily stock our sponsor’s products. Those include Eagle Claw, Pautzke, Northland, Acme, Rapala, Trout Traps, Beaver Damn, Luhr Jensen and StrikeMaster in addition to our regular offerings. We make our own ice fishing jigs that have produced here for many years, the Krystal Lazers and Tiny Tots. We have Night Crawlers, Meal Worms, Wax Worms, Mummified Wax Worms, WATER DOGS, Suckers, Salmon Eggs and more. Come on in and check em out

MARINA STORE AND LAKE SPECIALISTS: Camping, Fishing Equipment, Flies, Lures, Bait, Clothing, Food, Snacks, Drinks, Ice Cream and official purveyors of Boars Head brand products. Stop in and find out how we can help you catch. Get a topo map. They say information is gold. It's also critical to catching fish ESPECIALLY ON THE ICE. The maps have GPS coordinates on them so you just can't miss. We want you to be successful here at the Mile. Get a map we will MARK IT UP with the hot spots

TROUT:: GOOD TO VERY GOOD: Action is sporadic like the wind. It’s up it’s down it moves around. Spring conditions rule. The wind can blow from any direction as clouds move in and out. Same with the fish. When is the best time? When they decide. Although we have found sundown from 6PM to 8PM to be particularly good as well as sunrise until about 8:00AM. The water starts to bubble with fish. As the ice recedes working the shoreline is the ticket. We have primarily worked jigs the last four days and have done extremely well. Color patterns and size change depending on conditions. Black Marabou has been very good. There are hatches occurring through out the day so at some point the fly rod becomes the hot weapon. But if sitting on the shore keeping your distance is your desire while enjoying the scenery typical baits like Night Crawlers, Egg Sacks, Fire Bait and the like also work. The mix is varied with all sizes of mostly Cuttbows being caught up to 23 inches and bigger.

KOKANEE SALMON: NO REPORT

NORTHERN PIKE: NO REPORT Try Chartreuse Power Bait

SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park.  Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.

The WEEKLY FISHING REPORT is produced by fishermen for fishermen. We try to get it done every Thursday but some times fishing or life gets in the way. So if its not there on Thursday morning it will show up by Friday. We appreciate all the support and acknowledge that many of you won't miss a week but every now and then we might. Report takes a vacation in November. Fish On!
