ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA

03.22.20 UPDATE: The Park Visitor Center is now closed until further notice. The Park is open for visitation and camping. Go to CPW website for details. We continue to be open observing all best practices and required CO Department of Health protocols. No more than 10 people in the store at one time including staff. Regular sanitizing of common areas. There were a decent number of people and families on the ice enjoying the day and being ice o lated. Send us your pics. All pic senders will receive 10% off on any future purchases no expiration.

CURRENT CONDITIONS: Snow is coming down. Ten inches already. We love Winter storms in Spring, particularly the first day thereof. Water water water. If you are a recent implant to Colorado and can’t abide by that then as Jimmy Fallon would say…”Go On Get!” Ice is holding on. Thickness running 18 to 24 inches in most spots. Be wary around rocks and shoreline areas as thickness can vary down to 6 inches. Late ice requires caution especially with this fresh snow but overall the ice is totally awesome. Nice thing about Spring snow besides the water is roads get good pretty fast except for CR 90/92. It will be a mess once this melts. Pot holes pot hole pot holes.

STATE PARKS, THE MARINA AND COVID-19: Check CPW website for latest updates. Some Park offices are or may be closing. We were told the Park here will remain open even if they were to close the visitor center which as of this writing has not happened. Barring a “Shelter In Place” order for all of us which would be horrible we intend to be open and operate under specific guidelines as set forth by the CO Department of Health. This is a great place to safely leave the world behind for a few hours without being around crowds of people. Stop wishing and go fishing! What else is there to do? We are a CO licensed retail food establishment ie. grocery store and will be stocking as needed for our local residents and Park users Currently no toilet paper not even a square to spare BUT plenty of bait. There is probably plenty of tp in the Park outhouses to use as needed. Not to speak ill of CPW but when it comes to the tp they provide Come on Man! Guess it’s better than no tp. Nah. As long as our staff is willing to work and are healthy we are here to serve you. The Governor has suggested using State Parks as an excellent outdoor respite and G-d knows we all need it. Best practices of course. Not feeling well please stay home.

EAGLE CLAW SHAPPELL ICE FISHING TOURNAMENT SERIES 2020 A HUGE SUCCESS. RESULTS BEING POSTED BUT STILL WORKING ON IT.

HOURS: OPEN M-F 8:00AM to 4:00PM weather permitting. SATURDAY & SUNDAY 7:00AM - 4:30PM .

WE RENT ICE FISHING EQUIPMENT: Ice Master Package includes everything two people need of the latest greatest all new equipment. See link above for rates and details. We are Ice Fishing Outfitters. We feature the newest Strike Master Electric Power Auger. No gas no noise cuts the ice like butter.

USED EQUIPMENT FOR SALE: Shappell DX3000 2 person shelter. These units have floors and can also be used as a sled for all your gear. Like new this seasons model New $329.99 SALE PRICE $199.99 one available. You think you are going to find new ice fishing equipment next season…good luck on that. Leftovers at best. This supply chain thing won’t be fixed over night or even over months. Our vendors always request our ice fishing order for next season by April 1 and that’s without issues. Why? China China China. Think their going to start making and shipping augers anytime soon? They had a weak season in Minnesota and Wisconsin this year because of ice conditions so there will be some leftovers but we predict that’s it.

SUPPORT THE REPORT: Many thanks to all of you that support our store and business. We love you. Many Many Thanks! We are here for you with a great selection of what works and up to the minute fishing information. AS they say it doesn’t get any fresher than that!

THIS WEEKS PIC: #1 Four salmon way better than no salmon.

#2 Brian is the man!. Caught right behind the Marina yesterday. When people ask where are the fish and we tell them right out back they think we are being smart asses. When it comes to catching we tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth! We want you to have a great time here and that means catching fish like Brian’s. Pic courtesy bpramov.

#3 And one salmon is still better than no salmon. We heard they call him One Salmon Tyler which is not quite Two Fish Julio but just ahead of One Fish Randy. Pic courtesy j.elwell.

WATER FLOW: 149 CFS IN 151 CFS OUT

WE HAVE THE BAITS: We love ice fishing. We primarily stock our sponsor’s products. Those include Eagle Claw, Pautzke, Northland, Acme, Rapala, Trout Traps, Beaver Damn, Luhr Jensen and StrikeMaster in addition to our regular offerings. We make our own ice fishing jigs that have produced here for many years, the Krystal Lazers and Tiny Tots. We have Night Crawlers, Meal Worms, Wax Worms, Mummified Wax Worms, WATER DOGS, Suckers, Salmon Eggs and more. Come on in and check em out

MARINA STORE AND LAKE SPECIALISTS: Camping, Fishing Equipment, Flies, Lures, Bait, Clothing, Food, Snacks, Drinks, Ice Cream and official purveyors of Boars Head brand products. Stop in and find out how we can help you catch. Get a topo map. They say information is gold. It's also critical to catching fish ESPECIALLY ON THE ICE. The maps have GPS coordinates on them so you just can't miss. We want you to be successful here at the Mile. Get a map we will MARK IT UP with the hot spots

TROUT:: GOOD:: Spring action is showing how much fun ice fishing can be. Typical s and standards 16 to 19 inches are being caught all around the lake. Stockers and then some at North Shore Many different baits are working, Black Marabou jigs in 1/4 and 1/8 oz have been doing really well in shallow water. Pautzke Trout eggs sacked up a favorite. We have pre-tied and jars. We also have kits that are made so you can tie the perfect sack.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR TO GOOD: You won’t be seeing us heading out with this fresh snow, Like hiking in a foot of mashed potatoes. It will set down a few days after but it was just getting super easy to slide out to the spots. The bites have been pretty darn good when they happen. It seems if you hang all day one of the large groupings will bite and bite hard. They have to be the most finicky fish in the world or at least Eleven Mile which is our current world given the state of affairs. Fire Tiger Kastmaster, PFO Swedish Pimple #’s 3, 4 or 5. Pink Tiger gold back Rattle Master 1/8 oz tore it up one day and skunked the next.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO GOOD: As we predicted action is picking up as we move into March. They seem to be interested in suckers and size does matter. We are using small ones that seem to be the trick. We have six packs and they are the size you need. The dogs just don’t seem to be tripping the flags like the suckers are. Karl E one of our guides has seen plenty of fish but stealth is the key. Smaller ones easier to catch bigger ones are still a challenge. Try some cut bait sucker on a red and white Daredevle jig em in then dead stick it.

DREAM STREAM IN YOUR DREAMS: We all love the Dream. Alex, one of our Guides, was working it a couple weeks ago and was appalled at the level of trash up and down the shoreline. We’re not talking snagging hooks and tons of line, we’re not talking Power Bait jars and worm containers. No we’re talking fly rig leader and strike indicators, cigarette butts, beer cans and all things trash. Ten dollar Habitat Stamp aside and the government failure to provide an area that sees thousands of visitors a single trash can or porta potty aside, it is our responsibility to pack out our own trash. We urge you to bring a trash bag and pack your and others trash out on your next trip. If your a Guide bring two bags one for you and one for your client. Bring gloves. After this virus disaster passes you can urge the powers that be to take action. It’s an environmental embarrassment. This is not part of the Eleven Mile Spinney Mountain State Parks jurisdiction. At this point it’s up to us the users. Pick it up throw it away…it’s the right thing to do. Thanks

SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park.  Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.

The WEEKLY FISHING REPORT is produced by fishermen for fishermen. We try to get it done every Thursday but some times fishing or life gets in the way. So if its not there on Thursday morning it will show up by Friday. We appreciate all the support and acknowledge that many of you won't miss a week but every now and then we might. Report takes a vacation in November. Fish On!

Reservations and payments taken over the phone and purchases on line via credit card are secure.
