.WATER TEMP: 68
Water Flow 260 CFS IN 335 CFS Out. Water level dropping.
CURRENT CONDITIONS: Witchers Cove boat ramp is closed. Park office is closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Showers and laundry are closed. Expect huge crowds every weekend. With the Park office closed on Wed and Thurs we are inundated on those days with folks frustrated for Park services that we do not provide.
WATERCRAFT RENTALS: As people massively stream to the great outdoors to get respite from all that is Covid-19 we completely understand the need and desire to go boating and fishing. However the demand has exceeded our ability to provide the service that we would like to provide. We have decided to take the following action in an effort to eliminate the frustration of both customers and ourselves. Until further notice we will not be taking watercraft rental reservations over the phone. All boats will be first come first served OR by previous reservation OR reservation made in house. In addition reservations do not guarantee equipment. Our boats are being abused beyond belief. At that rate we won’t have props to replace. Due to supply chain issues we are unable to get parts for repairs when people break things as they are known to do. So it is very possible as we get deeper into the season that boats may be off line due to circumstances beyond our control.
PROP CHOP COUNT: 13 in the last seven days. It’s almost unbelievable but true.
PIC # 1: Carl and a Pike. Swim bait.
SUPPORT THE REPORT: Many thanks to all of you that support our store and business. We love you. Many Many Thanks! We are here for you with a great selection of what works and up to the minute fishing information. AS they say it doesn’t get any fresher than that!
MARINA STORE AND LAKE SPECIALISTS: Camping, Fishing Equipment, Flies, Lures, Bait, Clothing, Food, Snacks, Drinks, Ice Cream and official purveyors of Boars Head brand products. Stop in and find out how we can help you catch. Get a topo map. They say information is gold. It's also critical to catching fish from shore or boat. The maps have GPS coordinates on them so you just can't miss. We want you to be successful here at the Mile. Get a map we will MARK IT UP with the hot spots. Our tackle shop is fully stocked with all the great things you apparently can’t find at Cabela’s, Bass Pro and Wal Mart. TACKLE THE NEW TP…. go figure. Our tackle shop is fully stocked.
TROUT:: FAIR TO GOOD: It is August and the dog days of Summer. Water levels are dropping, weeds are floating water temps are rising and it takes a little more effort but the fish are still biting. Mix it up to find the right pattern, size and color. Used a Jack of Diamonds in black, brass, yellow Daredevle on a down rigger and did pretty good. Krocodiles have been coming on in Pearl, FT and Perch. Timing is always everything this time of the year since bite do not last all day. Sunrise, mid morning and mid afternoon have been good.
Shore action has been good with people pitching Kastmasters or your favorite bait There has been an interesting early afternoon bite usually before the funky afternoon weather moves in
KOKANEE SALMON: POOR: They are there but hard to entice. You can still pic one up here and there but that is about the best we have seen. Early morning seems to be better. Try Macks Wedding rings.
NORTHERN PIKE:: FAIR: Action is consistent for smaller fish The big ones don’t like calm conditions and we have had that in the early parts of the day. Work the weed lines on the west or rock drop offs on the east. Big sticks and Spinner baits have done well. And of course we catch em on the Kastmaster which has been one of the better performing lures n general this season. Firetiger always a good pattern to throw. Been having good luck on black and blue Bill’s Spinner Bait if fished just right. Flutter it and let it drop like a jig.
SERIOUS FISHERMEN TEAM PIKE TOURNAMENT has become another Covid casualty. Due to restrictions placed on us and the general unknown as to where these recent spikes are headed we have decided to take a pass this year on the contest. SORRY but we just think it is best all things considered.
SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park. Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
The WEEKLY FISHING REPORT is produced by fishermen for fishermen. We try to get it done every Thursday but some times fishing or life gets in the way. So if its not there on Thursday morning it will show up by Friday. We appreciate all the support and acknowledge that many of you won't miss a week but every now and then we might. Be Safe. Fish On!
