WE SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO ANSWER THE PHONE. We can only do what we can do at half staff and historic demand. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA

THE PARK OFFICE NOT THE PARK IS CLOSED ON WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY DUE TO STAFF SHORTAGE. IF YOU ARE PLANNING ON COMING EITHER OF THOSE DAYS REMEMBER TO BRING $9.00 CASH FOR YOUR DAILY PARK ADMISSION PASS IF YOU DON’T HAVE AN ANNUAL. HECK JUST MAKE IT 10 BUCKS AND DONATE A DOLLAR. WE DO NOT SELL PARK PASSES AND ARE UNABLE TO MAKE CHANGE FOR THEM UNLESS YOU MAKE A STORE PURCHASE.. WE DO NOT HAVE AN ATM AND WE ARE SORRY BUT WE CAN’T GIVE CASH BACK ON PURCHASES. HECK WE CAN’T EVEN GET COIN CHANGE FROM OUR BANK. THEY SAY IT’S A COVID THING.

HOURS: MONDAY - FRIDAY 8:00AM TO 6:00PM SATURDAY - SUNDAY 7:00AM -7:00P ONLY 8 people allowed in the store at a time. We require you sanitize your hands upon entering. State wide mask order in place for all indoor public places. If you don’t have one to come in our store we can provide you with one. We can refuse service without one.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Campgrounds are open and we are busy. Retail and or dock crew starting at $15.00/hr going to $16.00/hr or more plus gratuities in two weeks based on performance. FREE boat use on days off. 25% off tackle and store purchases for full time commitment. Call 719-748-0317 for appointment. Come work at the lake have fun make money.

PARK COUNTY FIRE BAN: NO FIRES NO SHOOTING PROPANE ONLY. Propane fire rings are legal. ITS A DROUGHT THING. WE HAVE ENOUGH PROBLEMS ALREADY WE DO NOT NEED A FOREST FIRE HERE. OBEY THE BAN PLEASE!!!

CPW, the Marina and Covid-19: The Stay at Home Order is now a “Safer At Home” order. Accordingly boating at State Parks and marinas are open. Campgrounds are open. Go to CPW link above for information. As a licensed CO Retail Food Establishment we follow all mandated guidelines and then some. Our store is big enough for effective social distancing and constantly being kept clean. All boats and PFD’s are sanitized after every use.

.WATER TEMP: 68

WATER FLOW: 273 CFS IN 341 CFS Out. WATER LEVEL DROPPING. This is now becoming an issue. A steady decline in levels with no official word as to where we are headed. Boat ramp can handle a 23 foot drop but it would look very ugly circa 2002. In that Haymen Fire year we saw such an event and at the time the boat ramp could only service a five foot decline. Boating was over. But they took that opportunity to build the ramp out to historic low levels. The slope is difficult and we hope not to see it. Water usage surely must be dramatically greater than 18 years ago and add current drought conditions. We have had to move the rental service dock out and have lost use of four slips. It is too late in the season to make the effort to move our slip docks out.

CURRENT CONDITIONS: Witchers Cove boat ramp is closed. Park office is closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Showers and laundry are closed. Expect huge crowds every weekend. With the Park office closed on Wed and Thurs we are inundated on those days with folks frustrated for Park services that we do not provide.

WATERCRAFT RENTALS: As people massively stream to the great outdoors to get respite from all that is Covid-19 we completely understand the need and desire to go boating and fishing. However the demand has exceeded our ability to provide the service that we would like to provide. We have decided to take the following action in an effort to eliminate the frustration of both customers and ourselves. Until further notice we will not be taking watercraft rental reservations over the phone. All boats will be first come first served OR by previous reservation OR reservation made in house. In addition reservations do not guarantee equipment. Our boats are being abused beyond belief. At that rate we won’t have props to replace. Due to supply chain issues we are unable to get parts for repairs when people break things as they are known to do. So it is very possible as we get deeper into the season that boats may be off line due to circumstances beyond our control.

PROP CHOP COUNT: 6 this past week

PIC # 1: Ol Howard tags a nice one

PIC # 2: Now selling beer

PIC # 3: Going down down down

SUPPORT THE REPORT: Many thanks to all of you that support our store and business. We love you. Many Many Thanks! We are here for you with a great selection of what works and up to the minute fishing information. AS they say it doesn’t get any fresher than that!

MARINA STORE AND LAKE SPECIALISTS: Camping, Fishing Equipment, Flies, Lures, Bait, Clothing, Food, Snacks, Drinks, Ice Cream and official purveyors of Boars Head brand products. Stop in and find out how we can help you catch. Get a topo map. They say information is gold. It's also critical to catching fish from shore or boat. The maps have GPS coordinates on them so you just can't miss. We want you to be successful here at the Mile. Get a map we will MARK IT UP with the hot spots. Our tackle shop is fully stocked with all the great things you apparently can’t find at Cabela’s, Bass Pro and Wal Mart. TACKLE THE NEW TP…. go figure. Our tackle shop is fully stocked.

TROUT:: FAIR: It is August and the “dog days” of Summer. Many anglers have been struggling to get a bite. Water levels are dropping, weeds are floating water temps are rising and it takes a little more effort but the fish are there and can be caught. Mix it up to find the right pattern, size and color. Nighttime seems to be the right time and those working the dark side of the day are having good luck. If you have never night fished here you should give it a try. Lots of fun. Mostly a bait thing but we have caught fish depending on Moon faze on fly and bubble particularly between 2:00AM and 4:00AM. Look to sundown until it gets dark, again at 10:00PM and again at 2:00AM. You will feel the temperature drop dramatically at 2 and then the bite starts.

KOKANEE SALMON: POOR and POORER: It’s always worth the try but hardly worth the effort. One or two if you are lucky. No fish have been stocked in two years but there are still decent numbers out there.

NORTHERN PIKE:: FAIR TO GOOD: Action is consistent for smaller fish The big ones don’t like calm conditions and we have had that in the early parts of the day. Work the weed lines on the west or rock drop offs on the east. Big sticks and Spinner baits have done well. And of course we catch em on the Kastmaster which has been one of the better performing lures n general this season. Firetiger always a good pattern to throw. Been having good luck on black and blue Bill’s Spinner Bait if fished just right. Flutter it and let it drop like a jig.

SERIOUS FISHERMEN TEAM PIKE TOURNAMENT has become another Covid casualty. Due to restrictions placed on us and the general unknown as to where these recent spikes are headed we have decided to take a pass this year on the contest. SORRY but we just think it is best all things considered.

SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park.  Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.

The WEEKLY FISHING REPORT is produced by fishermen for fishermen. We try to get it done every Thursday but some times fishing or life gets in the way. So if its not there on Thursday morning it will show up by Friday. We appreciate all the support and acknowledge that many of you won't miss a week but every now and then we might. Be Safe. Fish On!
