CONTEST UPDATE: As of this writing we haven’t even gotten the courtesy of a response to our appeal. So for now since we were told we could not have them we will officially throw in the towel for The Grand Slam but will continue to argue our position and hope we can have The South Park Ice Masters and Marina March Madness. CURRENT CONDITIONS: ICE ON Lake is 100% capped. Thickness is running 12 to 17 inches. No new snow roads are clear for the most part. Super cold has abated for now.
THE COVID THE PARK THE MARINA UPDATE: Park County is currently at level orange. We are a licensed grocery store and operate as an essential business with all required protocols in place. The Park is currently open 24/7/365. Campsites are open.

WATER FLOW: 115 CFS IN 70.3 CFS OUT At this rate the level is slowly rising. They are obviously moving to refill the lake so ice conditions may vary dramatically. Where do they get the water in Winter…Spinney.
ICE FISHING TIP OF THE WEEK: When the Trout aren’t hitting your jig its time to try straight bait with no jig. One our favorites is single salmon egg laying on the bottom. Best to use spring bobber to detect hit.

TROUT: GOOD: Action slowed a little bit. People start bumming out when they were catching a lot of fish one week and then go out and not do nearly as well or even get skunked oh my! If you haven’t been skunked at Eleven Mile ever you don’t fish here all that often. Its an on off lake and when its off nothing you can do. We have had two bad days in a row but never three. As they say it’s not called catching its Fishing and with that comes challenges some times. Moving is helpful and changing baits frequently if they are snubbing you. Chartreuse and greens have been productive this year
KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR TO POOR: Action is sporadic and waiting for the schools takes patients and catching Trout along the way. Reports of two here and there stretch from Deer Island to Goose. Many of the fish are deep. We like large spoons because you can get them down quickly as needed. No electronics probably shooting in the dark and your chances are slim.
NORTHERN PIKE: VERY GOOD: Decent action continues in many different areas. Most fish caught in less the 15 feet of water. Waterdogs are a hot bait but not the only bait. Pic above shows productivity on whole suckers. We have 6 packs of whole suckers of just the right size. $ 12.99 for six pack vs $5.25 each for dog. Better try both. Presentation and patience is what it takes in addition to the right bait.
SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park. Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
The WEEKLY FISHING REPORT is produced by fishermen for fishermen. We try to get it done every Thursday but some times fishing or life gets in the way.
