CURRENT CONDITIONS: It dropped about five inches last night. Fresh snow always makes for more of a workout. Don’t forget your shovel. We like putting our shelter on the ice. We also like to clear a little patch for axtra sun beam. You’ll see zoo plankton start to appear the more light that gets through the ice. Where their is food their is fish.
THE COVID THE PARK THE MARINA UPDATE: We are a licensed grocery store and operate as an essential business with all required protocols in place.
ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA
WATER FLOW: 127 CFS IN 195 CFS OUT Water level continues to drop. This is significant for a number of reasons. We have always found negative outflow results in less of a bite vs positive or neutral. No science here just experience. Also if you like to fish very shallow water and some do like 3 feet. Better be careful when punching a hole. An unsuspecting rock or bottom can do serious damage to your equipment.
PRODUCT NOTE: WATER DOGS: Our supplier told us he would run out of water dogs for the season by Feb 8. We have a good supply now but they fly out the store on weekends. We hope to get some before he runs out. They keep well in a 5 gallon bucket with refreshed water from time to time. Just saying you might want to think ahead. We certainly hope to be ice fishing through March with the best Pike action to come and they have been consistently successful this year.
SHELTERS: We are sold out of the popular Shappell Wide House 6500 and Eagle is sold out for the season. We have one non insulated 5500 left and just got in five insulated ones but only have 3 left..
AUGERS: We have no 8 power augers but do still have some 10 Strike Master Electric. A superior piece of equipment. We tried Ion’s as rentals and the Strike Master in our opinion is a better design and more durable. Based on serious use and experience you should think of investing in one.

PIC # 1: January Pic Winner Jacob Martinez. That Brown of a lifetime was caught on a tube jig.
PIC # 2: Kevin Easter reports he had a good day on Sunday with this being one of many on steady action day on pink jig. Many came in Sunday reporting very slow action for them. Just goes to show…you never know. The background may give a hint to location. Thanks courtesy pic K. Easter.
TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: Action has slowed for many but plenty of nice fish being iced.Stocker action at North Shore should be fun this weekend. 15 to 30 feet of water has been a consistently good depth. Stoll and points West always show promise. Rocky Flats all the way to Corral Cove has also seen fun action. We also like Lazy Boy and Howbert. Witchers Cove is to far a drive for us but if you are coming in that way Deer Island hold some really big fish and it is easy access. Duck Island holds big fish too but access is really a challenge in terms of length of hike. But if you work the rock drop offs there there are big surprise. It gets so little pressure and big fish don’t go traveling around the lake for the most part. They hold to their spots waiting on you.
We like our 11 Mile Krystal Lazers and tiny Tots. You can almost always catch a fish on one of them. It just depends on the color de jour. Orange has been coming on lately as well as greens both dark and light. If the won’t hit your jig drop down to just the bait.
KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR: We have not been able to get out that way. Friends report the same kind of action we have seen in past weeks. It’s either hot or it’s not. Fish definitely still being caught. Work big spoons, Swedish Pimple PFO in 3, 4 or 5, Krocodile in Pearl, RB and Kastmaster in CDY and RB. You need to be able to get down fast if they are deep and you are not. We like to keep a small crappie jig or sparkle tube (because we still have a stash) at about 15 feet for the high cruisers and there always seems to be a few of them. We are jigging machine folk. It doesn’t always work but when it does they are awesome. Where can you get one? Our suggestion is build one. Small windshield wiper in a box. Very basic don’t go wild. We use three strings of Pop Gear usually Green Rainbow off a 20 foot 50lb leader. Salmon fishing is more than just luck and it takes effort and practice. Book a Guide Trip and we will show you all we know.
NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO GOOD: The fun season continues for many. Water Dog the bait of choice. Find a spot with one big one and their is almost always a second hanging around. We have consistently seen big fish in the Marina area. They always seem to have interest but either don’t take the bait aggressively or are extremely cautious and out wait you. Make a noise move your bait watch them back off.
SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park. Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
