CURRENT CONDITIONS: All fishing access areas are open. Expecting some snow today and tonight. In the beginning of the Season there was a positive in flow but for most of the Season it has been negative. In case you haven’t noticed there are no pressures ridges to speak of. That’s the first time we have seen that. The pressure ridge is created in a full lake with two continents of ice expanding against each other. Water level decrease would eliminate that pressure. It will be interesting to see how that will effect melting since significant ice damage is caused at the pressure ridges once they collapse and wind gets to work in those areas.

TROUT: GOOD: Stocker action continues unabated at the North Shore. It’s a numbers game. Catch a bunch of those then pop a big one. Large fish always chasing small ones. They have also moved down the line to Corral Cove. Look to Rocky Flats, Stoll Mtn, Howbert Point and Witchers Cove for fewer little fish. Shallow water strating to see big cruisers. Work 30 feet or less down to 5. Move around if you can if you see nothing. They could 50 paces away. Lots of different baits working stop in for the latest info.
We like our 11 Mile Krystal Lazers and tiny Tots. You can almost always catch a fish on one of them. It just depends on the color de jour. Orange has been coming on lately as well as greens both dark and light. If the won’t hit your jig drop down to just the bait.
KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR TO GOOD: Overall we are doing better than we expected we would this Winter. It is similar to last year but maybe a little better. Catching Kokanee takes knowledge and experience. If you know this lake and how to catch salmon you should be successful. Reports from the channel out from Deer Island are good with consistent opportunities. You can catch big ones or small ones out of the same grouping. Duck Island has not been as productive but North Shore out from the Marina has. We just have been working out from the Marina and always seem to get at least one and sometimes we score. Stop in and we will show you on the map where to try. Electronics a must to be successful. Make yourself a jigging machine. We have caught fish on Kastmaster, Krocodile, Buck Shot Rattle and Swedish Pimple. No tip of bait no fish. Make sure you always have an offering. Kokanee Specific Guide Trips available.
NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO GOOD: Decent action continues around the lake. There are definitely monsters cruising the North Shore getting heavy on easy pickins. Waterdogs, Suckers and 1oz Bucktail Kastmaster with small chunk of sucker meat have done well. We have those Masters in Blue/Silver and Chrome. Look to 12 feet of water or less and rock drop offs. East of Howbert to Witchers or Stoll to points West. Late ice is a great time for the big ones. That’s not yet. Some time in mid March. This has been a solid Northern Pike Winet Season with perhaps the best yet to come.
SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park. Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
