ELEVEN MILE AND SPINNEY ARE STILL ICE COVERED
ELEVEN MILE RESERVOIR AND SPINNEY MOUNTAIN RESERVOIR ARE STILL ICE COVERED. We were told unofficially that Spinney water level is down dramatically. Eleven Mile is down by our estimation 2 to 3 feet due to Dam work in the Fall. Until CPW gets to see where the water is at Spinney they won’t be able to determine if the boat ramp is unusuable.
THIS REPORT WILL BE UPDATED DAILY AS NEEDED CHECK BACK IT WON’T BE ANY DIFFERENT OVER THE PHONE
HOURS: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 3 PM Saturday & Sunday 7:00AM to 4:30 PM WE HAVE THE BAITS !!
WATERCRAFT RESERVATIONS NOW BEING TAKEN: Given how crazy busy it was last Summer it is never too early to make a boat reservations. Holidays and weekends are already filling up. Call 719-748-0317
CURRENT CONDITIONS: As much as we would like to tell you otherwise as of this report the lake is at least 98% ice covered. Many edges around the lake are getting soft and opening up. But the loss of water over the Winter may have something to do with how the melt progresses given the shoreline areas were covered with inches of ice to wherever the water begins. There may or may not be fishable water this weekend. We are planning to go ice fishing tomorrow. Why? because we can and there IS NO FISHABLE OPEN WATER AS OF TODAY Early on Early Off Extreme caution advised.
The new increase in water flow could absolutely help break up the ice. It just started today we will see.
Even if there was open water at Cross Creek it is so shallow due to low levels that it would be difficult to fish. Every body is chomping at the bit. We get it. Time to go CATCHING!!!!!
THE COVID THE PARK THE MARINA UPDATE: Effective April 9 Park County will go to level GREEN on the State Covid color wheel. Please go to Parkco.us for details. Face Masks are OPTIONAL accept in places noted such as schools, health care facilities, salons and a few other specifics.
ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA
ICE THICKNESS: 16 - 22
WATER FLOW: 168 CFS IN 56 CFS OUT WOW Water level rising. That means they are taking it out of Spinney because there is not that much going into Spinney

TROUT: GOOD: Late ice action is picking up as fish move through spawn mode. Not always hungry but often aggressive. They are taking bait off the bottom and jigs depending on the time of the day. Tube and marabou jigs working well. Stink em up with Pautzke Fire Gel. Couldn’t hurt. We have shrimp, crawfish and trout scents that all seem productive. Shallow water is where most of the trophy fish are. Try 3 to 5 feet at any sandy area around the Lake. We like Howbert, Lazy Boy, North Shore and Corral Cove. Trout Spawn sacks are highly effective. Sacks made from Eleven Mile fish eggs are illegal. Pautzke new Trout eggs are hot. We have some pre-tied sacks.
KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR TO POOR: The last week was pretty weak. Very few schools being marked.
NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO GOOD: One day the are aggressive and the next they aren’t. We are in transition.:
Some items in last weeks report were clearly APRIL FOOLS but you would not believe the uproar. No sense of humor any more? NO APOLOGIES
