ICE ON
THE WEEKLY FISHING REPORT IT’S ABOUT THE CATCHING
MARINA MARCH MADNESS MARCH 5: The last contest of the season is unique. The format has changed over the years depending on ice conditions. If things remain close to what they are now the event will be held at the North Shore. All contestants fish in a spot of their choice in a very large designated area. There are three fishing sets or separate contests as we like to say. Cash prizes awarded for first fish, 1st 2nd 3rd place for each contest in addition to points toward the final grand prize. Weigh in required every two hours. One team member may continue fishing with other member weighing in fish. BFP is a random draw from big fish from each set. That means the BFP winner MAYNOT necessarily be the biggest fish. The goal is to a get a chip in the pot for the draw. THERE WILL BE NO BASKETBALL. Final rules given at check in. It is FUN FUN FUN.ITS MADNESS!! Check in begins at 5:00AM contest runs through approximately 2:30PM event over by 4:00PM

WINTER ICE SKATING: We tested maintaining an ice skating area behind the Marina last Winter and it was well received. This year we will attempt to maintain one area for hockey with nets and one area just for skating.. In an effort to provide a non fishing Winter activity the Park has encouraged and supported our efforts. Last year families fished and skated for fun fun fun!!! We will be setting up Hockey Nets next week. Make Eleven Mile a stop on your search for skating. Its all about the fishing for most but for others its all about the skating!! Hockey nets are in!

TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: CPW Winter stocking program continues. Mostly Cuttbows. All being pumped through the ice at North Shore. The bite has slowed a bit from the early season frenzy. The first contest saw 86 out of 130 teams (66%) weigh in fish mostly Trout. The last Trout only contest on Saturday saw 52 (46%) Teams out of 124 weigh in fish.
KOKANEE SALMON: GOOD: It sure is spot specific but if you get in the zone limits are doable to be sure. Many fish on the bottom and now being seen right below the ice. Deer, Duck and now Goose Island out from North Shore areas doing well. Spoons like Kasmaster, Swedish Pimple, Krocodile and Thomas Bouyant do well. You can also catch them on smaller ice jigs like Paddle Bugs, Krystal Lazers and Trout Traps. This is not easy fishing but can be hugely rewarding. It takes effort specific equipment and experience. Call us up take a trip and learn the details.
NORTHERN PIKE: GOOD: Many more fish being iced now than in the early part of the season. Although waterdogs continue to do well unless you have a stash or secret connection good luck finding them. Being a wild caught bait many sources are froze over. Suckers do well if presented properly. We have a size that works well for us. We also have Northland Quick Strike rigs to rig them up with. North Shore to Corral Cove doing well in addition to Cross Creek and Witchers Cove toward Deer Island. You can also catch them on spoons and tube jigs tipped with sucker meat or night crawler.
SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park. Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
