ITS ABOUT THE CATCHING
HAPPY JULY 4TH HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY CELEBRATING THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH
MARINA STORE HOURS: SAT AND SUN 7:00AM - 7:00PM MON - FRI 8:00AM - 6:00PM
BREAK WATER IMPROVEMENT PLAN: We have been informed that the State plans a new and significant install to replace the current and failing Wave Eater system. The current barrel system is at least 20 years old and not nearly what it use to be. The new system by Pacific Netting from WA may be if it works as advertised a true game changer for Eleven Mile. We were also informed that some time after Labor Day work will begin and the North Shore Parking and boat ramps will be closed for approximately 5 days. We will post updates as information becomes available.
CURRENT CONDITIONS: Park County Stage 2 Fire Ban. Fires allowed in State Park campsite fire pits. All Park facilities are open. Wind has been down quite a bit. Afternoon showers are a typical Mountain Summer forecast and helps keep fire danger at bay. When and if it does rain it doesn’t last long, cools things down and makes fish bite.
WATER TEMP: 63
ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA
WATER FLOW: 168 CFS IN 112 CFS OUT
SUMMER BOAT RENTAL/RESERVATIONS: As we move into Summer short staffed like every other business it is not out of the realm of possibility that we are no different than the airlines. We sell a reservation and then don’t have the crew and cancel because we have no choice. We certainly hope it doesn’t come to that but when you are short staffed already and some one pulls a no show no call it becomes impossible to put certain numbers of boats on the water. We must staff for all safety contingencies. So the reservation does not guarantee the boat but it does guarantee the boat if we are properly staffed. Crossing our fingers.

PIC # 1: She was so excited she was walking on air. Her biggest fish at Eleven Mile caught from rocks in lbc
PIC # 2: Two nice salmon for Gene
TROUT: VERY GOOD: Boaters are seeing hot and heavy action on Cuttbows ranging in size 11 to 14 inches. Limits abound. Bigger fish to 24 inches are also being landed..Trolling a variety of baits like Tas Devils, Rapala and Needlefish. Bite times vary sometimes it depends on weather moving through. Drifting bait on the est end has been productive for those so inclined. Night action also has been good. It’s prime time NOW. Post hatch early Summer fish are getting fay and active.
KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR TO GOOD: Some anglers need to learn their specie. We have encountered some who brag about a limit only to have 10 Cuttbows. Although not quite as hot and heavy as early June you still can get a nice bunch Dodgers and Sling Blades seem to do better than most with a variety of baits off the back. We have done well on a selection of Macks baits like the Wedding Rings, Wiggle Hoochie and Kokanee Squids. A lot of anglers like to tip with a piece of shoe peg or Pautzke Firecorn but we do just as well using Gulp Maggots. This past week the Chartreuse maggots were particularly effective. The Pink and Natural also do well. Work North Shore to Duck Island. Oddly enough we caught one in the North Shore Marina Cove on a white tube jig.
NORTHERN PIKE:FAIR: Once the water temperature reaches 65 degrees things should pick up. Look to Bill’s Spinner Baits or a reasonable facsimile. We like Blue/Blk and Orange/Brn. Woth the weed line on the West end or the rocks on the East end.
SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park. Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
