“ITS ABOUT THE CATCHING”

IT IS PEAK SEASON WE ARE VERY BUSY VERY SHORT STAFFED. ANSWERING THE PHONE IS DIFFICULT AND ON SATURDAY NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. LEAVE A MESSAGE WE WILL TRY TO CALL YOU BACK

MARINA STORE HOURS: EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1 SAT 7:00AM - 7:00PM SUNDAY 7:00AM - 6:00PM MON - FRI 8:00AM - 5:00PM

BREAK WATER IMPROVEMENT PLAN: We have been informed that the State plans a new and significant install to replace the current and failing Wave Eater system. The current barrel system is at least 20 years old and not nearly what it use to be. The new system by Pacific Netting from WA may be if it works as advertised a true game changer for Eleven Mile. We were also informed that some time after Labor Day work will begin and the North Shore Parking and boat ramps will be closed for approximately 5 days. We will post updates as information becomes available.

CURRENT CONDITIONS: It is very green up here with consistent afternoon rain. Mostly brief showers then clearing although there have been nighttime gully washers. Perhaps the wettest July we have seen in quite some time. Enjoyable to us who live in the mountains and have suffered through fire seasons in years past. No fire ban cool nighttime temps but it does get Summer hot when the sun is out. Not very interested in hearing cry babies about the rain. This morning it is cool cloudy not windy chance of rain and perfect catching conditions. Boats are going out with people who understand high mountain Summer weather. They are dressed accordingly with fishing poles in hand at the ready.

Due to staff shortage the CPW main office here at the Park is closed Wednesday, Thursday and only open half day on Friday. This puts unneeded pressure on us as many frustrated folks think we can help them with camping and Park issues. We are sorry but we are not involved in Park matters please don’t take your frustrations out on our staff they are under enough pressure already. We do have a great staff that will help if possible. Make sure you have your fishing license in advance. When the Park office is closed we are not able to drop everything we may be doing and do a fishing license on demand. Patience is a virtue.

WATER TEMP: 68

ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS LOCATED IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA

WATER FLOW: 199 CFS IN 201 CFS OUT

SUMMER BOAT RENTAL/RESERVATIONS: As we move into Summer short staffed like every other business it is not out of the realm of possibility that we are no different than the airlines. We sell a reservation and then don’t have the crew and cancel because we have no choice. We certainly hope it doesn’t come to that but when you are short staffed already and some one pulls a no show no call it becomes impossible to put certain numbers of boats on the water. We must staff for all safety contingencies. So the reservation does not guarantee the boat but it does guarantee the boat if we are properly staffed. Crossing our fingers.

MARINA STORE AND LAKE SPECIALISTS: Camping, Fishing Equipment, Flies, Lures, Bait, Clothing, Food, Snacks, Drinks, Ice Cream and official purveyors of Boars Head brand products. Stop in and find out how we can help you catch. Get a topo map. They say information is gold. It's also critical to catching fish on the ice. The maps have GPS coordinates on them so you just can't miss. We want you to be successful here at the Mile. Get a map we will MARK IT UP with the hot spots. WE ARE HERE FISHING EVERYDAY AND CAN PUT YOU ON THE FISH.

PIC # 1: Trolling Brass Bikini Needlefish size #1 off from Rocking Chair

PIC # 2: Dark green tube jig Goose Island

PIC # 3: Black Marabou North Shore just after a rain at sundown

TROUT: GOOD TO VERY GOOD: Many anglers doing well on Cuttbows 12 to 14 inches. A decent number of bigger fish also being caught around the lake. Shore action is good early AM, Sundown and night. Boaters seeing good numbers of fish being caught trolling, pitching or drifting bait. Pink has been good as usual. Try a Pink Frog Tasmanian Devil.Lots of different baits working. Good mid morning and mid afternoon bite. Afternoon storms can make for great catching afterwards.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR TO POOR: The bite is off. Occasional four year olds being caught. Bite times are unpredictable and spotty. Catching plenty of Trout while hunting salmon. We have done well around Duck Island and surprisingly good out from Rocking Chair. Sling Blades, Dodgers and pop gear perform well but not required. Lots of time not many fish.

NORTHERN PIKE:GOOD: Bite has picked up significantly. although mostly smaller fish. Spinner Baits, Husky Jerks and big spoons have seen action. Mostly smaller fish with the big ones looking but not necessarily taking. Look to West end on North Side 8 to 12 feet of water. Howbert to Witchers Cove

CRAWFISH: VERY GOOD: It’s prime time. Fishing license required no limit. Boil em up.We have some great traps for sale. The ones we use for maximum production. It’s a Cajun thing

SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park.  Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.
