Capt. Sal Cursi had a couple of slow days chunking stripers in Raritan Bay from his Cathy Sea out of Sewaren before big bass cooperated during Monday morning's trip for a party of Jersey Transit engineers headed by Tom Stanczyk. A spawned-out 40-pounder topped the catch that included others in the thirties.

Capt. Ryan Bogan of Jamaica II from Brielle said fluking was decent over the weekend despite rough seas and cold waters as some caught four to six keepers.

Tom Paglioroli of Ocean City fished Monday with his fiance, Denise Marie, and Karen Wall of The Fisherman magazine on Big Kid from Brielle. Snagging bunkers in a big fleet outside the inlet didn't produce stripers, so Capt. Ken Gallop ran to Ortley Beach where four bass were boated while trolling Tony Maja spoons, and Wall released another. Denise had a 37-pounder.

Capt. Bud Mc Arthur took advantage of Saturday's calm seas to fish for cod at Shark River Reef. The wrecks were loaded with dogfish, but he found cod on the rough bottom as eight keepers and three shorts were caught from Splinter out of Brick.
