Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
A beautiful day greeted the early morning anglers today and produced good catches both nearshore and offshore. The offshore fleet continued to have good luck with the gaffer dolphin, yellowfin and big eye tuna, tilefish, and amberjack. And where there are dolphin, there will be marlin -- three white marlin and a blue were caught and released. The nearshore fleet were hitting on 6-10 lb blues and spanish mackerel. As of this posting the the results of the 6th annual Tuna Roundup have not been finalized. As of yesterday angler Joe McKinnon held the lead with a 79 pounder, followed by Dave Dunton (47.5) and Yuri Freudenschius (45.5). Check back tomorrow for the final tally. While you're at the marina be sure to visit The Ships Store and check out the fine selection of sportswear and event t-shirts -- then relax at Mimi's Tiki Bar with a cool drink.
