Hooking Up Anglers Since 2011.
Capt. Jou Grazioso said his trip to Hudson Canyon was slowed by thick fog this morning, but Sarah B. from Seaside Park got out there in time to troll three yellowfins from 30 to 50 pounds. On the way back they stopped at Chicken Canyon and marked some bluefins, but didn't hook up. My surf luck was obviously used...

My surf luck was obviously used up yesterday morning when I had caught a 29 1/4-inch striper on my first cast at Sea Girt despite low water and a rough surf. I returned about the same time this morning and didn't do a thing.
Allen Riley of South Plainfield had a little better news from the Sandy Hook surf. There were still no game fish when he took his wife plus granddaughter Sorrenta (5) there later in the morning. Quite a few sea robins were being caught for thefirst time this year. Riley also caught a short fluke, but it was Sorrenta who was the star as she caught two fluke, including a 16-incher.
The Queen Mary from Point Pleasant got into bluefish to the north on Tuesday after some slow trips.
Joe Blaze of Brielle tried fly fishing today with Capt. Hans Kaspersetz and me on Sheri Berri from Baker's Marina on the Bay in Highlands as we waited for a showing of school stripers that never occured. They had been up off Breezy Point the previous afternoon, but the southeast wind probably put an end to that. Dr. David Cheli of Spring Lake caught lots of short fluke in Rockaway Inlet while we waited for the surface action. We ended up at the islands, where I plugged a small striper on a Zara Spook and another on a Mambo Minnow. but flies were ignored excpt for one that Don Cassias from Plano, Texas had on for a moment.
