It's Spring time here while Fishing in Islamorada and we've got some strong Spring winds. It's been blowing 20-30 knots the past few days and looks like it will continue till the end of the week. With the rough sea conditions not as many boats have been fishing, but the boats that have made it out have brought back plenty of fish for dinner. We did a Family Fishing Trip aboard the BNM today and even with the high winds and rough seas we were able to make it out to the shallow patch reefs inside the main reef. The Kids Fishing had a great time and caught 20 snapper for dinner, a couple of cero mackerel, and released around 10 groupers. The Relentless stuck it out the entire day on the edge of the reef and had a bucket full of yellowtail snapper as well as a limit of king mackerel to 20 lbs! The Reel McCoy also had near a limit of Yellowtail Snapper as well as the Sugaree, who also had a nice king mackerel right at 30 lbs. We're hoping for some more current on the edge of the reef, which could make the conditions right for "tailing" sailfish and cobia, where they surf down the waves, many times with the tips of their tales sticking out. We'll just have to wait and see what happens this week.
