Below is some newly uploaded footage filmed on board KEKOA during the 2011 Tournament with the tournament major sponsor Mike Carney on board, which was compiled for the presentation where KEKOA took home the Champion Boat trophy. Some of the best days fishing on these ground include 36 and 32 black marlin in a single day’s fishing. Whether you’re a novice or an experienced angler, these fish provide a heap of fun with their aerial acrobatics! The juvenile black marlin fishing is best off Townsville in the cooler winter months of July, August and September. The Burdekin River feeds into the waters off the Cape and provides plenty of nutrients for the large bait schools which in turn attracts the small billfish in numbers. Charter Options Live-aboard charters anchoring overnight in the calm waters behind Bowling Green Spit, a short run from the fishing grounds, provide anglers with a great opportunity to maximize their time on the water.
