Chincoteague Fishing Report through 09/05/12

 | By Seamus on 9/1/2012 11:25:38 PM | Views (330)

Here the latesat on the fishing here on the island.  The croaker fishing has picked up in the last couple of days.  Off the surf there is a mixed bag of (kingfish)sea mullet, spot, bluefish, and some puppy drum too.  Flounder jigging has been hit and miss with a few anglers hitting more than missing like Mark pictured below.  Offshore wrecks have been producing some nice seabass.  i got a chance to go out with Drew Cooper on the PQ2 on some of the inshore wrecks, we caught seabass, tautog, spadefish, triggers, pufferfish, porgys, and pigfish.  A treat to go out with one of the best fisherman around here.  Off the surf take out some live bloodworms and fresh mullet to increase your chances of catching.  We have fresh mullet and the largest selection of baits around.  Good Luck fishing!
